Total US coal train loadings averaged 69.2 trains/day in the week that ended Friday, down 29.1 trains/day from the week prior, Surface Transportation Board data showed Thursday. In addition, loadings in the ninth week fell 31.2 trains/day from the year-ago week, the largest week-on-week drop since the last week of 2017, which included the Christmas holiday, and the largest fall from the year-ago week since the 19th week of 2016. Fewer loadings in the Powder River Basin largely drove the week- on-week fall.
