Karnataka targets sourcing 20% of renewable energy from farm lands

A total of 600-MW solar power and 300-MW of thermal power have been allocated to distribution companies in Karnataka for bundling. According to Karnataka Minister for Energy, Mr. D. K. Shivakumar, "So far in the State, the distribution companies are getting 900-MW power at a bundled tariff of Rs. 3.30 per unit for a period of 25 years. And the balance capacity of 1,400-MW will be available to grid by December 2018."
