ICHNEUMON FLIES OF THE GENUS METOPIUS PANZER (HYMENOPTERA, ICHNEUMONIDAE, METOPIINAE) OF THE PALAEARCTIC FAUNA

An identification key for 56 species of the genus Metopius Panzer known in the Palaearctic fauna is given. All the specimens are deposited in collections of the Zoological Institute (Russian Academy of Sciences, St. Petersburg), Institute of Zoology (Ukrainian National Academy of Sciences, Kiev), and Zoological Museum (Lomonosov Moscow State University). In addition to the diagnosis, the localities of this species in the countries of the former Soviet Union and adjacent territories are recorded. One new replacement name is proposed for Metopius clementi Tolkanitz, nom. n. (prop M. laticinctus Clement 1930, non M. laticinctus Cresson 1879). One species is designated as a new synonym: Metopius croceicornis Thomson 1887 = M. vespulator Aubert 1979, syn. n.
