Aluminium International Today was invited to question Pavel Ulianov, Managing Director, Corporate Strategy and Development Rusal, on the Company's development plans. He spoke of a global strategy to secure alumina supplies and boost metal output from the present 2.7Mt/y to 5Mt. Bauxite and alumina production will be increased to make the company self sufficient through recent acquisitions and investment in mines in Australia and Guyana and increases in output in Guinea (West Africa) where it already has a management agreement with the government. At home, Rusal has a share with Sual in the Komi alumina project.
