3 Little-known Florida hotspots: untapped, year-round birding that's almost too good to be true

If you've ever birded in Florida, you're certainly familiar with its top hotspots: Anhinga Trail in Everglades National Park; the migrant trap that is Fort De Soto County Park near Tampa; Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge, rich in endangered and threatened species; or the vast birdlife on Sanibel Island. Florida is a big place, however, and not every great birding site is written up in the state guidebooks. I've spent enough time photographing birds to know that the St. Augustine Alligator Farm, Wakodahatchee Wetlands, and Lake Woodruff National Wildlife Refuge also rate as top Florida hotspots. But since they're less well-known, they don't feel like theme parks.
