Global Warming and Wine

WHETHER ONE BELIEVES that the earth is warming or dimming, one thing is for certain—our constantly changing climate will have long-term effects on nearly all aspects of human endeavor, not the least of which is wine. In recognition of this fact, during March 2006, the first World Meeting on Global Warming and Wine took place in Barcelona, Spain, with 148 wine industry professionals from all the major winegrowing regions in attendance. Organized by the Wine Academy of Spain, the two-day conference attempted to address an issue that the global wine industry has, until recently, been reluctant to address.
