BEFORE THE ADVENT OF digital cable, the Internet and iPod, wine enthusiasts simply had to make do with more primitive forms of communication to share their, uh, enthusiasm. These primitive forms of communication entailed the slaughter of many innocenttrees that gave their lives to be ground up and mashed into a woody pulp to make paper. The tree skins were then treated and soaked with ink to make portable print materials with names like Wine Spectator, Wines & Vines and other wine publications eastof the Mississippi.
