Push-type service using I-mode mail for kindergarten or nursery school buses

Schools for preschool children, such as kindergartens or nursery schools, are behind the other educational facilities in IT (Information Technology) usage. Parents of the preschool children, on the other hand, are young and very familiar with IT technologies: E-mail or Home Page access. IT system introduce to preschools is very natural and effective for the competition under the situation that the number of children shows a rapid decrease. From the above viewpoint, this paper demonstrates an IT system to inform parents of an approach of kindergarten/nursery school bus using the I-mode service. The notable feature of the proposed system is "pushing" type, different from the conventional bus approach notification services. Bus approach is automatically reported to the parents without operation of the parent side. The bus location is detected by OPS and the data is transferred with DoPa network of NTTDoCoMo. The system was already implemented and is now on the field test.
