Doubt, said a French lady back in the 17th century, is not a pleasant mental state, but certainly is a ridiculous one. If anyone wanted proof of this, just look back a mere five years when numerous cynics were casting doubts on the ability of the hybrid tea to continue its wonderful ways. They were wrong. A quick look around the world reveals that the hybrid tea is alive and well and living in the gardens of those who truly appreciate the full wonder of all roses. So much for the prophecies of doom,disaster and chronic disability. The idea of the rose in terminal wilt has been well and truly overturned. I believe the rose has immense power -- but power brings with it responsibilities. Today there are too many who enjoy the power without showing any liking for the responsibility.
