Thermal analysis - The use of DSC & MTDSC in analyzing freeze-dried formulations and products thermal analysis

摘要

Many pharmaceutical products are prepared in a freeze-dried (lyophilized) format. However, these materials can be difficult to characterize particularly in terms of their stability with respect to storage temperature and the effect of water. In this paper, the utility of DSC, its modification MTDSC, and the related technique of TGA will be discussed in terms of their ability to measure key properties both in the solution and final dried product.
