High-density magnetic recording is stillevolving through bit-patterned media technology andenergy assisted recording in the form of post-perpendicularrecording. In innovative business environments,such as those involving HDDs, managementskills become essential. Continuous support by industryto university research and education is anotheressential factor for success. The importance of industry-academic-government collaboration is describedto not only reinforce business but also scientific competitiveness.
