Tips: The Use of a Disposable Rubber Glove as a Teaching Aid for Hand Anatomy

The hand, usually proves to be a significant challenge for any budding anatomist when first broaching the subject. I have found, that a useful tip in its teaching has been the use of rubber gloves and an imaginative artistic hand. For example, bones, muscles, arteries, nerves, nerve distribution, and dermatomes can all be displayed in varying detail by drawing them on a rubber glove. An added bonus to this teaching aid is that when placed on the hand, the movements of bones and muscles are displayed in all their illustrious glory. Furthermore, getting the students to draw their own anatomic gloves has proved especially beneficial in regard to their subsequent recall.
