IndustryVoice: Solid Foundation, Broad New Scope

Times are certainly changing, and the International Plant Propagators' Soci- ety (IPPS) is taking the bull by the horns. The IPPS was organized by nursery indus-try leaders in 1951 based on the idea that the organization could not succeed unless allmembers agreed to freely share their knowledge of plant propagation. So, at the outset, "To Seek and To Share" was selected as the motto for the society; it was a simple but revolutionary idea that all would benefit if all shared their knowledge. Fornearly 60 years, this unyielding devotion to sharing of one's plant propagation secrets has made IPPS a bastion of learning and industry advancement. In recent years, however, the organization has responded to a changing business climate by greatly expanding its scope from a concentration on purely propagation issues to a broader focus on all aspects of plant production.
