RECOMMENDED STANDARDS FOR SHORT-LATENCY AUDITORY EVOKED POTENTIALS These Guidelines are limited to the neurologic applications of short-latency auditory evoked potentials, i.e., to the use of these responses to detect and approximately localize dysfunctions of the auditory pathways within the auditory nerve and brainstem. The audiologic applications of these potentials, some of which require the utilization of frequency-specific stimuli to assess and quantify hearing function, are excluded from consideration.
