摘要

The paper presents the results of an experimental investigation on the effect of size of test specimen on Mode-II fracture, shear strength and slip of cement mortar and concrete reinforced with and without short steel fibers. Tests have been conducted using DCN-specimen~1, to obtain predominant Mode-H fracture. In this study, four different sizes of the specimen of one notch-depth ratio of 1:2 mortar and 1:2:4 concrete were tested. Tests were also done on these mortar and concrete mixes reinforced with 1 percent randomly distributed short steel fibers. Crack patterns and load-displacement plots are given. Effect of size of the specimen on fracture toughness and shear stresses at cracking and ultimate has been examined. Bilinear and trilinear idealisations of shear stress-slip plots for mixes without and with fibers are presented.
