It seems that there are some unsurpassable barriers in an emergency pandemic that might appear consequences of the PP. However, our conclusion points out scientific and vulnerable population protection deficiencies to meet the Declaration of Helsinki as the main reasons to avoid research in such a scenario. The PP is not a burden for clinical research if human rights are met and vulnerability and uncertainty eradicated and the methodology is sound (Alban 2005). The PP prevents the administration of novel drugs without definite toxicology to patients, on the basis of being contrary to the methods of drug research and patient protection. In that sense it protects research (Bayer and Fairchild 2004).
