摘要

Chemical behaviour of actinides in environmental aquatic systems is influenced by several factors viz. pH, redox potential of the solution, presence of complexing agents and temperature. Due to their high ionic potential, tetravalent actinide ions have a strong tendency towards hydrolysis under the pH conditions (prevalent in ground water) and undergo polymerisation and colloid formation. These hydrolysed species have a tendency to be adsorbed slowly on the container surface thereby rendering the studies related to the speciation of actinides difficult. An attempt was made in the present work to investigate the adsorption behaviour of Pu(IV) on various container materials like clay, teflon, glass (coated / uncoated) under varying pH conditions (3.9-7,9) on coated glass vial.
