摘要

Hermetia illucens (Diptera : Stratiomyidae) Black Soldier Fly (BSF) larvae are good organic waste converterinto protein and fat rich biomass. BSF has potential to replace expensive traditional protein sources like fish meal and soybeanmeal used in Aquaculture, Poultry and Live Stock formulated diet. A BSF larva is more sustainable and environment friendlyprotein source as compare to other traditional protein sources. A BSF larva has approximately 42% protein and 35% fat. Itreduces organic waste upto 50% and also harmful bacteria and housefly. This paper gives an in sight for culture of wild stainof Black Soldier Fly (Hermetia illucens) of Sindhudurg district in specially fabricated biopod and its potential for bioconversionof organic waste generated by human being and animal husbandry into a valuable feed ingredient protein, fat rich feed resourceand organic fertilizers.
