Ophir turns to Pavilion for US $1.25 Bn Tanzania sale

Ophir Energy surprised the market this morning by announcing a near US $1.25 Bn deal to farm down its interests in gas-rich blocks off Tanzania. In the latest of a string of deals by Asian companies to buy into East African gas, Singapore's Pavilion Energy will buy a 20% stake in BG-operated Blocks 1, 3 and 4 with another $38m payable following a final investment decision for the LNG project.
