Report from the third Nordic Conference on Family Focused Nursing, Kalmar, Sweden, September 22-23, 2010.

The Third Nordic Conference on Family Focused Nursing was held in Kalmar, Sweden in September 22-23, 2010, continuing a tradition that began with the first conference in 2002 and the second in 2006. These conferences have provided a wonderful opportunity for Nordic nurses with an interest in family nursing to gather and exchange scholarly ideas about how to support families facing illness. There is a growing interest in the Nordic countries for developing a family systems approach in family nursing although a family-related perspective is still most commonly used. The goal of the conference organizers was to move a family-centered perspective forward.
