Red Kite Lesley Key

HAVING read Paul Hobson's Masterclass (AP 9 January) about photographing red kites at Gigrin Farm, Lesley thought she would give it a go herself. New to her Canon EOS 50D but living close to the farm, her aim of the day, she says, was to get the birds in the frame. She has sent a collection of pictures in which she demonstrates her success in this endeavour, and with some cropping she has produced some great compositions and captured some real moments of action. The cropping is quite severe in some cases, as she found a long focal length too difficult to work with when the birds where travelling so fast, and consequently some of the files have been left quite small. She says practice will help -and she is absolutely right.
