Planning the path to perfect production

Manufacturers face many challenges as they towards agile, flexible production environments. Daniel Rossek, Omron Electronics' UK marketing manager, examines some of the key issues and how they are being tackled. When we think of the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), we often regard it purely in terms of operational excellence and productivity gains. Although the financial gains to manufacturers from these improvements are extremely valuable, focussing purely on raw production metrics loses sight of some of the longer-term trends in the marketplace and goals of the IIoT - enabling manufacturers to become more agile and to respond quickly to changing consumer demands.
