With the UK's future trading relationships with the EU and the wider world up in the air, the fruitgrowing industry has expressed concern about whether it will still be able to bring in the fruit trees and soft-fruit plants on which it depends.A complicating factor is the Government's heightened awareness of plant health issues in the wake of recent high-profile pest and disease threats and outbreaks in the ornamental plant world. Indeed Defra's recent consultation on post-Brexit farming and environment policy devoted an entire chapter to "crop, tree, plant and bee health".
