As part of its National Lottery-backed Rethinking Parks initiative, independent charity Nesta has worked with five groups across the UK to research and support what it refers to as parks foundations —a collaborative and sustainable approach to providing added-value services to parks.Participants include Bournemouth Parks Foundation, Redcar & Cleveland Parks Foundation, Love Leeds Parks, Bristol & Bath Parks Foundation and the Lake District Foundation. The length of involvement in the initiative ranges from five years, with the likesof Bournemouth, to establishing Redcar & Cleveland Parks Foundation last year.Each charity was asked to log its challenges, successes and failures, so that the experience could be shared with other groups interested in establishing a sustainable business model for taking care of their local green spaces.
