Private and public sector organisations are becoming increasingly reliant on blowers as year-round tools. Traditionally the major selling period for hand-held and backpack blowers and vacs is the third and fourth quarter -- in the autumn and wintermonths when strengthening winds bring down the leaves from trees and hedges. But this year, companies have reported a buoyant market since the mid-year stage. Indeed, at that point, sales of blowers from Kawasaki Commercial Products were already 130 percent ahead of target, with the bulk of them sold to contractors and local authorities. The introduction of power blowers and vacuum machines revolutionised the autumn clear up of leaves and debris, and the removal of litter from streets, parks and stadiums. And while they are still used for such purposes, particularly in awkward and confined spaces, they are now increasingly used as a year-round tool for other tasks. Commercial users have found them ideal for blowing clippings and trimmings back onto lawns or into the bottom of hedges, cleaning down machinery, removing fresh falls of snow from pathways and even for sucking or drying up puddles on sports surfaces. Blowers and vacs are versatile tools and are now indispensable items of kit.
