Taiwanese textile manufacturers have long been favoured as suppliers to the world，s leading sportswear brands due to their innovative approach to product development. However, Taiwanese textile manufacturers are also gaining popularity amongfashion brands~particularly as performance fabrics are being increasingly incorporated into fashion garments.Every year the latest developments from leading Taiwanese textile manufacturers are presented at the Taipei Innovative Textile Application Show (TITAS), and the 2017 edition of the fair (TITAS 2017) attracted an impressive number of international visitors from renowned apparel brands including Black Diamond, Burberry, Coach, Honma, Manduka, Perry Ellis, Ralph Lauren and Yonex.The fair is a clear indicator of emerging trends within the textile industry, and the organisers of TITAS 2017 focused on the themes of Functional Applications, Smart Textiles and Sustainability. These themes were further reflected in the array of products exhibited at the fair, which included biosensing systems for sports apparel and medical apparel，innovative insulation materials and performance yarns, environmentally sustainable water repellent membranes and yarns, and temperature control fabrics. There were also a large number of fabrics on display which exhibited novel aesthetic ejfects, including spray dyed fabrics with a marbled appearance, fabrics printed with Ihermochromic pigments, and fabrics which revealed patterns in the presence of moisture.
