Newbuildings and Conversions DSIC suspends construction of Seadrill’s newbuild jackup

Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Co.(DSIC)has confirmed that work has been suspended for some time now on the eight jackups at its yard originally ordered by Seadrill. DSIC updates that work is on hold pending any progress in talks with the contractor. Until then,it is understood that the Friede & Goldman JU-2000E design rigs are potentially available for sale. The unit West Titan is 90% completed and the rest are in various stages of construction. If and when the yard can secure new buyers,it will first have to terminate the original contracts with Seadrill before proceeding with any resale.
