CASTRO, PR, BRAZIL - ARMANDO Rabbers is proud of what he's been able to accomplish in less than a decade of dairy farming. As owner of Latin America's first robotic milking system, he was a trailblazer among dairy farmers not just in Brazil, but across the South American continent.The son of Dutch immigrants started farming near Castro in Parana state in 1990, growing crops and producing pork, and it wasn't until 20 years later that he decided to get into the dairy business. Not only did he want to increase the income of his farm,but the climate in his region lent itself well to silage and he wanted to maximize grass culture in the winter season.
