Notes on the Heleomyzid flies of Cali Heath YWT reserve

Cali Heath is a small (27 acre), sandy lowland heath reserve of the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, whose history, habitats and dipteran fauna were detailed by Crossley (2016). At that time, the species list for the reserve was recorded as 479 species from44 families. By concentrating on collecting flies of families rarely collected by Mr Crossley, that total has now increased to 610 species from 56 families. For such a small reserve, this is a remarkable variety of diptera.
