Alternative Fuel/Product: IC Bus takes chargE electric bus concept on demonstration tour

USA/Germany - IC Bus, part of the Lisle, Illinois-based Navistar International Corporation, has announced development of the 'chargE', a concept all-electric CE Series school bus, which incorporates a 'group' zero-emission electric drivetrain from Volkswagen Truck & Bus GmbH of Brunswich, Germany. (This follows the announcement in October by Navistar and Volkswagen Truck & Bus of three new joint collaboration projects, one of these was to develop an electric powertrain for medium-duty vehicles for the US and Canadian markets with the planned launch for late 2019 or early 2020). ICBus stated the range of the chargE concept vehicle on a single charge exceeds 120 miles, while the powertrain can deliver up to 260kW (about 349 peak horsepower).
