Second city steps up a gear

Birmingham is redoubling its efforts to encourage cycling with two new segregated routes into the city, following the provision of free bicycles to those less fortunate and a safety campaign targeted at motorists. Plans to reserve road space for cyclists along six highway corridors in and around Birmingham have been revised after concerns that the city council was not being ambitious enough with its proposals.
