Three tier junction nears completion in North East

Collapse of a contractor and a complex construction programme have not held back progress to deliver the North East's first 'triple decker' roundabout improvement in North Shields to the east of Newcastle upon Tyne. Highways England's A19/A1058 Coast Road junction upgrade is set for completion in March when north-south traffic using the A19 will for the first time be able to traverse the interchange in free flow. The ￡75M project involves lowering the A19 beneath the existing Silverlink roundabout and the east-west A1058 Coast Road flyover towards Tynemouth.
