摘要

Physiological artifacts are electrical signals originating from the patient and arising from sources other than the brain. Myogenic potentials are the most common artifact and include jaw clenching, tremor, and shaking artifact. Other physiologic artifacts include EKG potentials, pulse or cardioballistic artifact, respiration, eye movements (blink, eye flutter), electroretinogram from photic stimulation, skin potentials (sweat sway) and tongue potentials (glossokinetic), and chewing. These are important artifacts to recognize, and they can sometimes look rhythmic. This is another reason why the technologist should not filter out all the fast activity and muscle during EEG recording.
