Fall in China's exports renew steel price concern

Chinese exports fell for first time in 17 months in June, renewing worries about a slowdown in the economy, and adding more concerns about the effect it will have on the steel sector. The value of exports fell by 3.1% year-on-year to Yuan 1.09trn ($176bn) in June, according to statistics from customs. With the country's imports sliding 0.7% y-on-y to Yuan 0.91trn, total foreign trade came to Yuan 2trn in June, 2% less than in the same month of 2012.
