Brazil extends OKs of neonic aerial applications on cotton

Brazil has extended the exceptional use authorisation on three insecticides as spray applications on cotton. The Ministry of Agriculture has issued a Normative Instruction for spray applications of imidacloprid, thiamethoxam, clothianidin and fipronil extending authorisations until July 31st 2014. Regulations controlling the aerial application of insecticides were issued in December 2012 in order to avoid harm to bees initially permitting the practice until the end of the 2012/13 season, the Ministry notes.
