Sale of 50% Oxochimie stake to Ineos / Former joint venture partner guarantees acrylic ester supply

French speciality chemicals producer Arkema (Colombes; www.arkema.com) has announced it will sell its 50% stake in oxo alcohols manufacturer Oxochimie (Lavera / France) and related businesses to its joint venture partner Ineos (Rolle / Switzerland; www.ineos.com). The jv counts itself among the largest European producers of n-butanol, 2-ethylhexanol, isobutanol, n-butyraldehyde and isobutyraldehyde. Part of the output of the Lavera plant is used by Arkema in its European acrylic esters production. The remainder is sold in the free market - among other things for applications in PVC plasti-cisers - generating annual sales of around EUR 40m.
