Engineering thermoplastics April 2020: Small price cuts initially / Hesitant pick-up in demand / Volume planning a part of price negotiations / Substantial reductions expected in May

Western European price declines for the engineering plastics covered here were moderate in April, and in many cases producers were able to win a rollover. With the PAs, buyers of larger volumes could win small concessions. Some compounders that had stocked up in the past with favourably priced polymer were trading product at aggressively low prices. The lower costs for the black material also helped. Quarterly agreements prevented a more significant fall in notations, but the ABS component underwent a substantial decline.
