摘要

A pot culture experiment was carried out involving paraquat herbicide at two levels to control the water hyacinth (Eichhomia crasspies) in water. Analytical data on persistence and degradation of herbicides revealed that paraquat got degraded with inone week of its application in water irrespective of the levels tried. However, it persisted relatively higher in detectable quantity under weed free condition in water beyond thirty days rather than that of residue obtained with weed present condition.The stability and degradation of paraquat was impacted with variation in pH of water.
