Each day,every player in the paint industry has opportunities to turn a new leaf and put then operation on the path to sustainability and eco-friendly practices.Independent paint retailers are in a unique position to help DIYers and professional contractors safeguard the environment by reducing wasted paint,says Brett Rogers,director of communications for PaintCare.Since its inception in 2009,the program has expanded to offer paint drop-off locations in eight states and the District of Columbia,allowing users to safely dispose of paint in a variety of locations,nearly 1,300 of which are paint stores.Rogers says that roughly 10 percent of all paint sold goes unused by customers and could pollute communities if disposed of improperly.
