India is a colourful and exciting place, with no shortage of enthusiastic supporters eager to say they were first to see the next Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi. The tournament straddled Diwali, the Hindu festival of light, and took place in six host cities spread across the country: Navi Mumbai, Goa, Guwahati, New Delhi, Kochi and Kolkata. Each city has a distinctive personality from the frantic hustle and bustle of New Delhi and Kolkata in the north, to the laid-back beaches of Goa on the west coast and Kochi in the southern state of Kerala.
