Reflow Oven Controller display glitch

I have built the DIY Reflow Oven controller project (April-May 2020; siliconchip.com.au/Series/343), and I have checked the build and wiring, but I have a problem. Upon power-up, the LCD shows a splash screen, then a page with the version number, then it goes blank.
