Royal Dutch Shell and its partners look evenmore likely to make a posi-tive final investment decision (FID) on their LNG Canada project in Kitimat, British Columbia, after it was reported last week that Ottawa will support tariff relief on imported steel used in building the liquefaction and export project. And another facility, which also could initially export around 2 billion cubic feet of gas per day, has been showing signs of life on Vancouver Island. If successful, Steelhead LNG's Kwispaa LNG project might lag the Shell-led project by two years, but its impact could be just as profound. Because tie capacity ofboth could be doubled, together they could one day export 8 Bcf/d of gas from BC's coast-not bad for aregion counted out ofthe LNG game just ayear ago.
