In Gas-Rich Oklahoma, Old and New Drilling Methods (Literally) Collide

Oklahoma is an old hand when it comes to energy extraction, but the golden age of horizontal drilling appears to be causing a rift with conventional drillers still tapping legacy wells. Long laterals have proved invaluable in allowing shale producers to adapt to lower gas and oil prices, and in the Sooner State being able to adapt long laterals to non-shale formations is seen by much of the industry as a game changer (NGW Jul.3'17). "We're seeing some stability in the future," Chad Warmington, who heads the Oklahoma Oil and Gas Association (OKOGA), told Natural Gas Week.
