CONAB CUTS ETHANOL PRODUCTION FORECAST FURTHER

The government's Commodity Supply Corporation (Conab) raised its estimate for the country's total sugar production in the current 2017/18 crop year to 39.39 mln tonnes, tel quel, from 38.70 mln in April, which would be up 1.8% from 38.69 mln a year ago. Mills in the Centre/South are seen increasing output of the sweetener to 36.09 mln tonnes from 35.585 mln a year ago, which is above the April forecast for 35.47 mln tonnes. Sugar output in the North/Northeast region is seen rising by 6.1% on the year to 3.30 mln tonnes from 3.11 mln, which compares with the April projection of 3.24 mln tonnes.
