Where have all the containers gone?

It was a very lively and fruitful atmosphere when participants of the Cool Logistics Conference held September 20-22, 2010 in Hamburg discussed ways to improve efficiencies under the motto "Ethics, Environment and Economics". With a little more than 100 participants the conference was certainly no crowd puller, but it showed that these issues have sparked interest in both speakers and attendants. The debate on procurement strategies of major department store chains presented by Philip Symons, Marks &Spencer, UK, and Dr. Horst Lang, Globus SB-Warenhaus, Germany, was very frank. Some questions remained open, for example the whereabouts of some thousand containers that disappeared in the course of the economic crisis and are now needed but nowhere tobe found. Even Captain Weng Un, representative of Cosco in Hamburg, was at a loss.
