摘要

THE European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) and the European Centre for Disease Prevention & Control (ECDC) said the incidence of salmonella in humans fell in 2010, but the incidence of Campylobacter was on the increase. The findings were published recently in the European Union's annual report on zoonoses and foodborne illness outbreaks. "The report shows that salmonella cases in humans fell by almost 9% in 2010, marking a decrease for the sixth consecutive year. Salmonella prevalence in poultry is also clearly declining at the EU level," EFSA and ECDC reported. "Campylobacteriosis remains the most reported zoonotic infection in humans since 2005, and the number Of cases has been increasing over the last five years," they added. The annual surveys help the European Commission and the 27 EU member governments design strategies to combat zoonoses and foodborne illness outbreaks.
