The great Ohiki debate is over

It is a pleasure to write to you all about the great Ohiki debate and a little history and future plans for the Ohikis. I think I can speak for everyone and say finally the great Ohiki debate is over, with a vote of members of the Rare Poultry Societyconfirming that Ohikis should now be shown within the Rare True Bantam classes - rather than the Longtail classes - or the Any Other Variety (AOV) classes, if a Rare True Bantam class hasn't been put on. We should now move forward and take this as an opportunity for the Ohiki to become more popular. As the Ohiki Registrar, I have recorded that we have over 30 breeders currently, with a waiting list of 15 potential breeders in the future.I'm sure it's been mentioned many times over the years about how the UK acquired Ohikis in the early 90s. Chris Parker bought back a trio from Germany and Richard Bilson imported eggs, and these became our first black red Ohikis in the UK. Don Storey imported the first silver duckwing Ohiki and another line of black red Ohiki. Richard was trying to breed white Ohikis using his black red Ohikis. I would like to say thank you to Chris, Richard and Don for the hard work they put into getting these wonderful birds into the UK.
