The Process of Low-Coke-Rate Operation Under All Pellets at Kobe Blast Furnace

Kobe Works has no coke plant, so its blast furnace has utilized high pulverized coal injection operation since its third campaign. Furthermore, the sintering process was closed in 1999 in order to install a power plant, and Kobe Works shifted to an all-pellet operation in 2000. In the fourth campaign, control of the burden distribution according to many brand pellets and pulverized coals and flux injection technology have been achieved. As a result, under severe conditions with a pellet rate of 80% and also all yard materials, a low coke rate of 283 kg/thm was recorded.
