Winter still has us in its grip, yet it is once again time to think seriously about the coming summer season, and in particular about sun protection. Those who enjoy winter sports have it a little easier - presumably they don't need to take a break for sun protection ... Sun care and protection is the focus of this issue. In Western Europe sun care is a growing market, but only at a modest rate. According to Euromonitor sales of sun care products in Western Europe, including sun protection, after-sun formulations and self-tanners, between 2006 and 2011 grew in total by only 1.9 % to around 3.1 billion US Dollars. During this period sales of the smallest category - self tanners - fell by 1.8% to 273 million Dollars. Sun protection products, which have the lion's share of the sun care market, on the other hand increased their turnover by 2.5% to hit 2.4 billion Dollars.
