Ready, set, speak!Communicating research

摘要

Communication is central in all aspects of society and is often defined as a process of transferring information from one entity to another. Effective communication is focused on establishing a 'connection' and is a two-way process, comprising a sender, message, medium and receiver. Communication is important in the delivery of palliative care and has been identified as a core competency for palliative care practice (Gamondi et al, 2014; Connolly et al, 2016). Communicating, interacting and being there for patients have been identified as integral components of palliative care nursing practice. But what about the importance of communicating research? How do practitioners and academics alike seek to ensure that they are effectively delivering key messages about their research?
